Stargazing – A Great Adventure for Kids

Our Government has been implementing rules to adhere to the new normal.

Many had to cut down on unimportant travel. This made many people bored and restless especially our kids. Being outdoors helps us reduce the stress and anxiety. We have to adhere with a lot of new rules and practices before going outdoors.

We often ask the question, Is it safe to even go outside? Before we think of going outdoors again we have to comply to our local and official protocols. We had to alter our day-to-day activity because of the new normal.
Kids are most affected because of this. Their prolonged days at home makes them bored. They get feed up with the same routine. We ran out of new ideas to introduce to our kids for them to have a feel of the outdoors and some adventure.

One activity that would be perfect for the kids and the entire family is stargazing. All we have to do is too look up. It’s a great way to introduce astronomy to our little ones. We can teach our kids about what’s above us. Small lectures about the planets, stars and constellations would be great for a start.
Now is the perfect time explore the skies at night together with our children. Because of this pandemic the world had slowed down. Big factories and businesses has ceased operations thus air pollution has decreased. The skies are brighter and clearer now. We can easily spot heavenly bodies such as the stars because of this.

Constellations: Connect the Dots in the Sky!

Stargazing can be successful if we have the proper tools. The view of the sky using our eyes are good enough but it would be better if we have some tools. Inexpensive telescope or a binocular are one of them. This can make the experience more fun. We can buy this as a gift to our children. Viewing the sky can serve as an alternative to screen time for children. Instead of the television set, they can view the night sky instead. Start by letting them view the moon. Kids will surely enjoy watching the moon since it’s the closest neighbor of our planet. It’s the easiest object to spot even without specialized tools.
Just recently many were able to view the comet Neowise after many centuries. This was an awesome experience for many people especially for kids who were able to see it. Let our kids sit back and relax by letting them wait for a shooting star. When our children see one don’t forget to make them close their eyes and make a wish.
